The Department of Human Services Guardianship Program provides guardianship and/or conservatorship services as a last resort to qualified individuals age 18 or older with an intellectual or developmental disability as defined in SDCL 27B-1-18 or qualified individuals in the Long Terms Services and Supports program. The South Dakota Department of Human Services may be appointed as a guardian, a conservator, or both, for adults with developmental disabilities under its care or to whom it is providing services or financial assistance, but only if there is no individual, nonprofit corporation, bank or trust company, or other public agency that is qualified to serve, as defined in SDCL 29A-5-110, or qualified individuals in the Long Terms Services and Supports program. The department also provides financial assistance for qualified individuals who are willing and qualified to serve as a guardian and/or conservator of up to $1,500.00 for the establishment of a guardianship or conservatorship through the Guardianship Establishment Program. Limited amount of funds for this program are available each year on a first come first served basis for qualified individuals.

The Systems of Care (SOC) program is a wraparound approach to delivering services to at-risk youth and families. This program is a free resource available to children under the age of 21 and their families and is meant to be a temporary service to help meet the needs of the child and family. Identified needs include but are not limited to basic needs, social supports, emotional needs, educational needs, community supports, housing supports, health, and safety. This program is meant to be temporary where services will conclude once all needs have been met. In instances where the child or a family member requires additional supports outside of what can be provided through this program, assistance will be provided in obtaining these additional services.

A culturally-appropriate, anonymous, confidential and free service dedicated to serving Native American and Alaska Native impacted by domestic and sexual violence. Advocates take a Native-centered, empowerment based and trauma informed approach to every call, text and chat. Advocates are available 24/7 and offer peer-to-peer support, crisis intervention and safety planning, information and education about domestic and sexual violence, referrals to Native-centered domestic violence, sexual violence service providers, basic information about health options, support locating health facilities or crisis centers trained in the care of sexual assault and forensic exams, and general information about jurisdiction and legal advocacy referrals.

Boys' Health Program is offered to those who may be at risk of developing physical, mental, or social health problems. Boys are referred to the program by school counselors, teachers, parents, health service providers, and social services agencies. Once enrolled, boys work closely with advocates to set and attain individualized goals. This program provides health-focused case management, education, advocacy, and prevention services. The Boys' Health Program helps lay the groundwork for lifestyle habits and attitudes that will strongly influence boys' health and behaviors as adults.

Outpatient mental health services for older adults experiencing mental health challenges associated with aging. Patients develop coping and communication skills they need to live a happier and healthier life. Services offered include a confidential, comprehensive assessment, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, medication education and management, and after-care planning. The Ryan White Part C program helps HIV positive people who live in Eastern SD to access primary health care. All patients who apply for the Part C Program will have access to case management services. The case managers help people with HIV/AIDS find services they need such as medical care, health insurance assistance, assistance with paying for medications, financial help, food/nutrition assistance, housing, referral to substance use treatment programs and/or mental health services, transportation, and other types of services. The Part C Program is a payer of last resort. Patients that are eligible for compensation through other programs, such as Medicare, Medicaid, or private health insurance, must first access assistance through those programs. Funds are available to assist with primary care, lab testing, emergency prescriptions, outpatient mental health therapy, outpatient substance abuse treatment, dental care, transportation, outpatient nutritional services, and medical and non-medical case management. Other services include nurse case management, social work case management services, and HIV testing.

Offers care of any acute medical problems and also offers STD testing and free flu shots. Psychiatry services also available during two appointment times (5:30pm and 6:30pm). The first clinic of each month will be for seeing new patients at these appointments while the second clinic will be for follow-up and seeing established patients. The Helpline Center's Suicide and Crisis Support is an accredited suicide prevention, intervention and after-care organization, delivering the hope and understanding you need. Provides individual, marital, and family counseling with a focus on addiction recovery (including evaluations), abuse, healthy relationships, unplanned pregnancy, adoption, and birth parents. Youth prevention program focuses on issues of addiction, violence, promiscuity, and suicide. Variety of educational workshops available. Offers free counseling services to ranchers and producers facing stressful times. Adoption services offers domestic and international adoption services, including, but not limited to: support for individuals coping with the many emotions and decisions that come from choosing adoption; providing birth parents have the opportunity to interview and select the adoptive family; working under the provisions of Baby Moses law; and providing home studies and training for potential foster parents/homes. Pregnancy Counseling supports mothers as they experience the many emotions and decision that come with facing an unplanned pregnancy and help find the options that will work the best. Assistance with medical costs associated with pregnancy may be available. Some infant items are also available (layettes, infant clothing, etc.). Licensed social workers are available to travel and meet mothers involved in a crisis situation. Crisis pregnancy meeting sites will be kept confidential and be convenient for the mother. Start Making It Livable for Everyone (SMILE) classes for separating and divorcing parents with children under the age of 18, designed to: inform parents how to better understand the effects of divorce; assist parents to understand the needs of their children; help parents learn what they can do to create a nurturing and safe environment so their children can recover and feel good about themselves; inform parents how to prevent destructive game playing that is common among divorce; help parents gain problem solving skills; and let parents know they are not alone. Other programs include: Lakota Circles of Hope, Disaster Relief, and Uplifting Parents.
