Services are available for boys and girls, ages 4-14 years old, who exhibit emotional disorders and/or behavioral problems. The average length of diagnostic assessment period is thirty days. The average length of stay for residential treatment is twelve to fourteen months. The Special Education School Program specializes in the education and treatment of children with emotional and behavioral disorders. Initial assessment includes psychiatric evaluation, physical exam, nursing assessment, educational testing, family/social assessment, trauma assessment, and speech/language screening.

Individual, couples, or family therapy for the treatment of children, adolescents, adults, and seniors focusing on issues including, but are not limited to anxiety, mood, personality disorders, somatization disorders, psychosexual disorders, schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress (PTSD), abuse issues, eating disorders, dementia, grief and loss, childhood emotional and behavioral disorders, spirituality, stress management, and executive health. Services offered include individual counseling, chemical assessments, DUI education program, outpatient treatment, prevention education program, and a relapse prevention group. Case Management and IMPACT Programs, designed to help clients with severe and persistent mental illness, services include case management and continued care, medication management with psychiatrist, crisis intervention assistance, and psychiatric rehabilitation which seeks to provide program services that assist clients in developing skills and manage resources needed to allow them to be successful in the community. A client centered, client directed form of treatment, the program consists of services designed to restore the disabled person to a level of functioning which permits a useful, meaningful life.

Intensive, non-residential treatment program providing services to children who meet the states' Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED) criteria and would not be successful in less restrictive services. Also provides services to their families. Incorporating counseling, case management, and family support services, with the goal of assisting in the development of a nurturing and stable family environment in which children may grow. A counselor along with family, individuals supporting the family, and professionals will develop a customized treatment plan which will assist in meeting the needs of the child and family. Services provided to program participants include 24-hour crisis assistance, counseling services, chemical dependency screenings and assessments, case management, dedication management, psychiatric services, classes and workshops on mental health topics, early childhood mental health services, and play therapy for children ages 0 to 5. Some therapies offered in this program include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), and Aggression Replacement Therapy (ART).

Services provided to adults with severe mental illness (SMI) including: CARE - Continuous Assistance, Rehabilitation, and Education, IMPACT - Individualized and Mobile Program of Assertive Community Treatment, and Psychiatric Services - assessments and medication management. Also offers telehealth services.

Outpatient Services - Individual therapy (for mental health or substance use), Family therapy, Group therapy, Medication management, Psychological assessments and testing, Commitment evaluations, Nursing home consultations, and 24-hour a day crisis intervention via crisis line. Walk in assessments available during regular business hours at the Yankton and Vermillion locations. CARE Club - Program for individuals with a mental health disability (i.e. schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety and borderline personality) who live in the community. CARE club provides support, assistance, interaction with others and the opportunity to improve consumers existing skills and develop new coping skills. Children's Services - Provides child centered therapeutic services in the home or office. This program provides mental health services to children with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED). The parents, families, and surrogate families of children with SED participate in all aspects of evaluation, planning and delivery of services. Works closely with child-serving agencies and programs.

​ Sponsored by The University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine medical students under the supervision of internal medicine physicians, provide health care with the goal is to provide health care to uninsured patients over the age of 18 while providing a learning opportunity for medical students. Offers care of any acute medical problems and also offers STD testing and free flu shots. Psychiatry services also available during two appointment times (5:30pm and 6:30pm). The first clinic of each month will be for seeing new patients at these appointments while the second clinic will be for follow-up and seeing established patients. This clinic also offers prescription assistance.

A 24-hour residential and psychiatric treatment center serving emotionally disturbed and learning disabled children between the ages of 4-14. This program also provides special education services and intensive therapy for children and families who are experiencing difficulty at home, in school, or in the community. Services include day school and residential programs, evaluation services, family supportive services, consultation and training services. Madsen House is designed to provide comprehensive psychiatric diagnosis and assessments, as well as short-term treatment for children ages 4-14 with emotional and behavioral problems. Madsen House Intensive Unit is an eight-bed unit for children ages 4-14 who have severe or chronic emotional and behavioral disorders. Treatment includes psychiatric care, adaptive management, individual, group and family therapy and academic programming. Childcare teams consist of three counselors and one team coordinator, creating a ratio of one staff for every two children.

Treating psychiatric illnesses including depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), developmental disorders and psychotic illnesses including schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. Offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Ketamine/Spravato for treatment of resistant depression.

​Provides diagnostic and therapeutic services of medical and psychiatric natures to persons with physical conditions requiring nursing home care and psychiatric conditions requiring in-patient hospitalization. Services are delivered in such a way as to allow the patients maximum opportunity to function as independently as possible in activities of daily living. The goal is for the patients to reside in the least restrictive environment, including return to an appropriate community setting. This program operates with 3 units located in Spruce Terrace and Willow Terrace I buildings.

This clinic offers esketamine (Spravato) for treatment-resistant depression.
