A counselor along with family, individuals supporting the family, and professionals will develop a customized treatment plan which will assist in meeting the needs of the child and family. Services provided to program participants include 24-hour crisis assistance, counseling services, chemical dependency screenings and assessments, case management, dedication management, psychiatric services, classes and workshops on mental health topics, early childhood mental health services, and play therapy for children ages 0 to 5. The Lifeline's Crisis and Text/Chat Service routes visitors to a network of crisis centers accredited in providing online emotional support. The Helpline Center's Suicide and Crisis Support is an accredited suicide prevention, intervention and after-care organization. Services include call, text and chat options for mental health support and emotional distress, suicide prevention and crisis intervention, assistance with substance use concerns, behavioral health resources and treatment referrals, 24/7 confidential emotional support and guidance for supporting a loved one with behavioral health challenges. The 988 LGBTQ+ Youth Voice and Chat/Text subnetworks provide specialized crisis support for LGBTQ+ young people resumed operations on September 30, 2026, as directed by Congress. When a voice contact cannot be answered within the specialized subnetwork, it will route first to the 988 local network and then, if needed, to National Backup. Unanswered Chat/Text contacts will flow to the local network unless the local service uses a State Centralized Platform, in which case they will route directly to National Backup.
