Text Based Counseling Services
Intensive, non-residential treatment program providing services to children who meet the states' Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED) criteria and would not be successful in less restrictive services. Also provides services to their families. Incorporating counseling, case management, and family support services, with the goal of assisting in the development of a nurturing and stable family environment in which children may grow. A counselor along with family, individuals supporting the family, and professionals will develop a customized treatment plan which will assist in meeting the needs of the child and family. Services provided to program participants include 24-hour crisis assistance, counseling services, chemical dependency screenings and assessments, case management, dedication management, psychiatric services, classes and workshops on mental health topics, early childhood mental health services, and play therapy for children ages 0 to 5. Some therapies offered in this program include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), and Aggression Replacement Therapy (ART).

The parents, families, and surrogate families of children with SED participate in all aspects of evaluation, planning and delivery of services. Extreme weather conditions, machinery breakdowns, a volatile ag environment, long hours that prevent time with family, and lowered income all cause frustration. This line is answered by mental health professionals who can help navigate symptoms or signs of anxiety or depression. Health Care Worker Stress Hotline - Available for any health care professional in South Dakota who might need someone to talk to about stress, anxiety, depression or other impacts caused by COVID-19 and other life events.
The Wholeness Center provides shelter and support services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include immediate 24-hour shelter and crisis hotline, crisis intervention, Legal advocacy: assistance in obtaining domestic abuse and stalking protection orders, and courtroom advocacy, medical advocacy, referral services: assistance in accessing community resources, i.e., housing, employment, financial needs, public education and outreach, information packets, and limited financial assistance. All services are free and confidential. The Wholeness Center is a member program of the South Dakota Network Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault.
