The department is a year-round prescription drug take-back site.  The County Sheriff is also the contact for mental health holds, burning bans, county jails/correctional facilities (including Western SD Juvenile Center), and fingerprinting for pistol permits. Other reasons for fingerprinting in Pennington County, are done by Rapid City police at (605) 394-6612.
