The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe or Cheyenne River Lakota Nation (Oyate), members include representatives from four of the traditional seven bands of the Lakota, also known as Teton Sioux: the Minnecoujou, Two Kettle (Oohenunpa), Sans Arc (Itazipco) and Blackfoot (Sihásapa).

Provides legal services to tribal members charged with criminal offenses. Represents respondents in matters involving juvenile delinquency, involuntary commitment, abuse and neglect, and guardian Ad Litem cases.

Considers requests for medical and funeral assistance. Other requests for financial assistance are considered on a case by case basis.

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe operates under a constitution approved on April 24, 1959 by the Tribal Council of Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. The Tribal Council consists of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, a Secretary and fourteen additional Councilmen which are elected by the tribal members. Regular Tribal Council meetings are the first Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of the month. Committee meetings are held the second week of the month. The last Monday of the month is for gaming and other tribal business.

The tribal office serves as the center of government, services and community support for the members of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe.

Within the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe are the following services - Tribal Police Department - Law Enforcement Services (offers fingerprinting, background checks, and gun locks), social services, enrollment, tribal courts, child care, Dakota language, Department of Natural Resources, Education, Tribal Health Clinic, Counseling Center, Grace Moore Senior Center, Housing, and Wellness Center.

Services provided: Coordinates all agencies within the jurisdiction to include public, private, and non-governmental organizations to ensure the protection of life and property in the event of threatened or actual natural disasters, terrorism, technological, or man-made events. Responsibilities includes develops and maintains the county plan for reacting to emergencies; during an actual emergency, the director coordinates the action; and trains other agencies to respond to emergencies.
