Provides transitional, clinically-managed, low-intensity, open-ended residential treatment program for adult males. Treatment program is designed around an initial 90 day treatment plan. There are no guarantees as to the results of treatment. Services provided are a minimum of 12 hours of individual, group or family counseling per week. Residents are encouraged to take part in the outdoor operation of the facilities and participate in any of the recreational therapy programs. Intravenous (SP) (IV) Drug Users: Client referrals who are identified as having a history of using drugs intravenously (IV) will be prioritized for admission into this program.

Alcohol and Drug Program treatment approach is based on the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous and reality therapy. Services offered include individual counseling, chemical assessments, DUI education program, outpatient treatment, prevention education program, and a relapse prevention group. Case Management and IMPACT Programs, designed to help clients with severe and persistent mental illness, services include case management and continued care, medication management with psychiatrist, crisis intervention assistance, and psychiatric rehabilitation which seeks to provide program services that assist clients in developing skills and manage resources needed to allow them to be successful in the community. A client centered, client directed form of treatment, the program consists of services designed to restore the disabled person to a level of functioning which permits a useful, meaningful life.

Equine-assisted counseling is an experiential mode of counseling. Sessions are conducted in an arena with a team including a mental health professional, an equine professional, and one or more horses. It is appropriate for individuals, couples, families, or groups. It is effective for those struggling with symptoms of post traumatic stress (PTSD), moral injury, trauma, addiction, grief and loss, abuse, depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. The main focus of Emily's Hope is treatment accessibility, support for families and prevention education. The Emily's Hope Fund, through the Avera McKennan Foundation, is getting people into treatment. Donations help offset insurance co-pays or support the uninsured. Donations will also support the families of those in treatment on a case-by-case basis who are seeing help at the Avera Addiction Care Center. Emily's Hope has developed a K-12 prevention education curriculum that aims to educate children on how substances affect the brain and how substance use disorder occurs. Emily's Hope publishes a weekly podcast on addiction and grief, holds a support group for those who have lost a loved one to overdose/fentanyl poisoning, publishes a blog on grief, and provides the latest news on addiction, overdose and the fentanyl crisis.

Adolescent substance use prevention, early intervention, drug and alcohol assessments and outpatient treatment for all youth in the Rapid City and Custer School Districts as well as surrounding communities. Counselors are primarily school based in RCAS and CSD middle and high schools along with select elementary schools. Services also available at main office in Rapid City for all adolescents (public, private and home-schooled) who are experiencing problems with substance use.
