The Counseling Center offers the following services (all services based on eligibility and priority needs): Substance abuse services include screening, intake, evaluation, referrals, aftercare, primary prevention programs, education, MRT/SBISA classes, and group counseling. ​Mental health services include couples therapy, family therapy, individual therapy, group therapy, Education, Referrals, and Psychological evaluations and services.

Individual, group, couples, and family counseling for all ages. Issues covered included depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, anorexia, bulimia, healthy weight loss, grief, attention-deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD), chronic pain, family separation, divorce, self-destructive behaviors, self-esteem, abuse issues, anger management, and/or any other mental health disorder including PTSD. ​Offering neuropsychological and psychological testing, biofeedback, eye movement desensitization (EMDR), and EAP (employee assistance program) services and training. ​Group therapy including borderline personality disorder treatment groups including STEPPS, STAIRWAYS, and STRIDES; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) group; adolescent group; and pain management group.

Services Offered: Individual psychotherapy for PTSD, trauma, depression, anxiety, loss-grief, addictions, communications, self-esteem, and behavioral issues and group therapy (Survivor Strong Groups for female survivors of sexual, physical and psychological abuse) through the following modalities: Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), motivational interviewing (MI), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).

Provides mental health therapy via telehealth services for individuals, couples, and adolescents. Areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and LGBTQ+ empowerment. Sessions are tailored to meet clients personal needs in a secure, confidential, and convenient virtual environment.

Whether an adult, teen or child struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflict, behavioral challenges, trauma, pain, loss or any area of difficulty, staff are available to help and offer telehealth services. Mental health testing and assessment services also available, including: memory testing, disability testing, bariatric testing, ADHD/ADD testing and a wide range of competency assessments.

Home Health: Offered skilled home health services including nurses, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and home health aides providing care, support and education to allow patients to manage health conditions at home. Hospice: Offers a multidisciplinary team that addresses the patient and their family addressing physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and bereavement needs. Services include clinician on-call 24/7, pain management, guidance with Advanced Care Planning, forms, and financial care needs, provide medications, durable medical equipment, and supplies needed to treat life limiting illness, support and teach family/caregivers how to care for the patient, and grief/bereavement counseling for up to 13 months after the patient has passed away.

Mental health counseling uniquely tailored to meet each client's needs in a safe, non-judgmental environment. A variety of methods are used for treatment including EMDR, IFS, CBT, Motivational Interviewing and Adlerian Therapy. Trauma informed care is provided for adolescents, adults, individuals, couples and families working through anxiety, depression, PTSD, and relational trauma as well as other issues that occur throughout life. In-person sessions are available in the Spearfish office, or statewide via telehealth. Intensive and marathon sessions are provided as an option for treatment as well as traditional counseling sessions for individuals and couples.

Offers outpatient counseling services for individual, couple, and families. Staff members work with the client to provide services in the home, community, or office at the discretion of the client. Substance use evaluation, assessment, and treatment is also provided. Walk in assessments and telehealth services are available during normal business hours at the Aberdeen location. Psychiatric services are also available to those over the age of 18 including assessments and medication management.

Counseling for individuals, couples, families and groups, working with trauma, anxiety, depression, addictions and recovery. Individual, family, and couples issues are addressed. Specialties include Level II in both EMDR (a trauma technique) and Gottman marriage counseling.

Paula Lain Counseling (PLC) is a female-led counseling service that offers sessions for individuals, families, couples, and adolescents, with a particular emphasis on animal-assisted therapy.

Provides assessments and therapy for individuals, groups, families, of all ages. Services address alcohol abuse and addiction, sexual abuse, spiritual abuse, marriage problems, family problems, adolescent and child adjustment, anxiety, grief, eating disorders, physical abuse, emotional abuse, delinquency problems, parent-child conflicts, stress, depression, spiritual needs, and mid-life issues. Offers telehealth sessions only if it is covered by insurance and client is located in state at the time of the call. Preference is for the first appointment to be face-to-face.

Sanford Hospice is a specially trained team that is committed to providing our patients with quality end-of-life care. Our interdisciplinary team understands and is sensitive to the needs of our patients and their loved ones. Our team is comprised of nurses, medical director, social workers, dietitians, volunteers and chaplains. Hospice services can be provided wherever that patient calls home. This includes inpatient hospice, hospice cottages, nursing homes, assisted livings, and other long term care facilities. Hospice cottages, a unique way to care for a terminally-ill patient who is unable to remain in their home for care, are available, as well. ​​Ava's House features 16 adult patient rooms and 4 pediatric patient rooms. Individual, couple, and family therapy. Providing emotionally focused individual and couples therapy. Also providing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Also, able to provide counseling via telehealth. Services only available to clients in South Dakota and Texas. This service is not covered by/available to patients on Medicare/Medicaid.

Provides long-term nursing facility care and short-term inpatient rehab care to individuals of all ages. Provides 24-hour nursing care. Individualized care plans are developed upon admission and reviewed on a regular basis. Services include activities, dining, spiritual care, and social services.
