Sanford Hospice is a specially trained team that is committed to providing our patients with quality end-of-life care. Our interdisciplinary team understands and is sensitive to the needs of our patients and their loved ones. Our team is comprised of nurses, medical director, social workers, dietitians, volunteers and chaplains. Hospice services can be provided wherever that patient calls home. This includes inpatient hospice, hospice cottages, nursing homes, assisted livings, and other long term care facilities. Hospice cottages, a unique way to care for a terminally-ill patient who is unable to remain in their home for care, are available, as well. ​​Ava's House features 16 adult patient rooms and 4 pediatric patient rooms. Provides services for individual, couples, children, and family counseling as well as anger evaluations, and anger management. Committed to helping people who are experiencing emotional, psychological, personal, or family problems to increase hope and fulfill their treatment goals for a better life.

Services include outpatient therapy providing individual (prenatal to geriatric), couple/marriage, and family counseling on topics including, but not limited to: life's major transitions, trauma, grief, depression and anxiety, medical adjustments and more. School-Based outpatient therapy providing individual, family and parent/teacher consultations within the Brookings Public and Brookings County School Districts. Oncology Outpatient Therapist - offer counseling for people with cancer at any stage of treatment or recovery. Addressing issues of adjustment to illness, fear of reoccurrence, cancer induced distress, anxiety, depression, life legacy, advance care planning, grief, and bereavement. Also available to see any family or support members of the individual for counseling. ​​Telehealth available for any individual with cancer or their support person. May be in active treatment or out of treatment.

Outpatient Services - Individual therapy (for mental health or substance use), Family therapy, Group therapy, Medication management, Psychological assessments and testing, Commitment evaluations, Nursing home consultations, and 24-hour a day crisis intervention via crisis line. CARE Club - Program for individuals with a mental health disability (i.e. schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety and borderline personality) who live in the community. CARE club provides support, assistance, interaction with others and the opportunity to improve consumers existing skills and develop new coping skills. Children's Services - Provides child centered therapeutic services in the home or office. This program provides mental health services to children with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED). The parents, families, and surrogate families of children with SED participate in all aspects of evaluation, planning and delivery of services. Works closely with child-serving agencies and programs.
