Police Department | City of Yankton

Programs of the police department include ​Crime Stoppers: a non-profit organization of concerned citizens that provides the public with an anonymous means to relay information concerning criminal activity to law enforcement. Cash rewards are paid for tips that result in the arrest or indictment of those responsible. ​DARE: presented in the Yankton elementary schools. ​Pet Licensing: annual required licensing of dogs and cats. ​Animal Control, ​Citizens Academy, ​Medication Disposal: shares year-round prescription drug take-back site with Yankton County Sheriff's Office; and the ​Sex Offender Registry.

Serving the community of Huron with law enforcement protection 24-hours a day. Programs include Crime Stoppers: Crime reporting time line, DARE: Drug Abuse Resistance Education, Drug take back: prescription drug drop off box in the lobby of city hall, Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety: education program in the public schools, Safety City: Teaches vehicle and pedestrian safety to children, School Resource Officer: liaison between law enforcement and the youth in the community, Citizens Police Academy, and CodeRed emergency notification system.
