The Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate of the Lake Traverse Reservation, formerly Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe/Dakota Nation, is a federally recognized tribe comprising two bands and two sub-divisions of the Isanti or Santee Dakota people.

Hospice Care is special care for patients who have a diagnosis of a terminal illness or a significant decline in overall health. Hospice care can be set up at home, in long-term care facilities or assisted living, or hospice centers. Hospice professionals are specially trained to manage pain and symptoms with palliative medicine at the end of life so patients are comfortable, yet alert and able to enjoy each day to the fullest extent possible.

The Parkston Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) serves female adolescents ages 12-17. The program focuses on helping them develop healthier attitudes, stronger coping skills and positive strategies to address the concerns that led to treatment. Care is guided by the Together Facing the Challenge (TFTC) evidence-based treatment model. It emphasizes relationship-building, skill development, and strength-based approaches. A multidisciplinary treatment team works closely with each youth and her family to design an individualized treatment plan focused on specific needs and goals, with progress reviewed regularly. Weekly programming includes anger management groups, strategies groups, independent living skills training, drug and alcohol education, group therapy and individualized assignments. Individual therapy and family therapy may be offered on an individualized basis according to the treatment team's recommendations. The program also emphasizes the role of therapeutic groups. This environment helps youth learn and practice respect for self and others, develop healthy relationships, set and meet expectations, and take responsibility for creating a safe and supportive community.

The Mental Health Service Line provides connection to outpatient mental health services, psychiatry services, local recovery coordination, care coordination, and peer support services. Also offers care for military sexual trauma, PTSD, suicide prevention and awareness outreach, and gun safety locks. Telehealth service options are available.

Sanford Hospice is a specially trained team that is committed to providing our patients with quality end-of-life care. Our interdisciplinary team understands and is sensitive to the needs of our patients and their loved ones. Our team is comprised of nurses, medical director, social workers, dietitians, volunteers and chaplains. Hospice services can be provided wherever that patient calls home. This includes inpatient hospice, hospice cottages, nursing homes, assisted livings, and other long term care facilities. This location is also a medication disposal site. Customers can use the Rx365 app to order refills, view an up-to-date list of medications, add an insurance card, and create a tax report.
