The South Dakota Resource Hotline is part of South Dakota's Statewide targeted response to substance use. The hotline provides a place where individuals are able to reach out for information on treatment resources and support for themselves or someone else. The Substance Use Care Coordination program: Connects participants with substance use resources, such as treatment assessments, treatment programs, counseling and social supports. Provides consistent connections during high-risk times for returned use, which may include post detox and before and after treatment. Provides support working on reaching recovery goals. Assists with making connections with appropriate community referrals for financial assistance, transportation assistance and assessing mental health resources. Connects with referral locations to best understand wait-lists, common barriers to treatment completion and share needed information between referral sources. For new referrals, fill out the Care Coordination Referral Form and the Care Coordinator will reach out in 1-2 business days.

The group also allows for the opportunity to interact with others who have experienced a loss, learn about their experiences and have the opportunity to share personal experiences related to the loss.

The Parkston Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) serves female adolescents ages 12-17. The program focuses on helping them develop healthier attitudes, stronger coping skills and positive strategies to address the concerns that led to treatment. Care is guided by the Together Facing the Challenge (TFTC) evidence-based treatment model. It emphasizes relationship-building, skill development, and strength-based approaches. A multidisciplinary treatment team works closely with each youth and her family to design an individualized treatment plan focused on specific needs and goals, with progress reviewed regularly. Weekly programming includes anger management groups, strategies groups, independent living skills training, drug and alcohol education, group therapy and individualized assignments. Individual therapy and family therapy may be offered on an individualized basis according to the treatment team's recommendations. The program also emphasizes the role of therapeutic groups. This environment helps youth learn and practice respect for self and others, develop healthy relationships, set and meet expectations, and take responsibility for creating a safe and supportive community.

Intensive, non-residential treatment program providing services to children who meet the states' Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED) criteria and would not be successful in less restrictive services. Also provides services to their families. Incorporating counseling, case management, and family support services, with the goal of assisting in the development of a nurturing and stable family environment in which children may grow. A counselor along with family, individuals supporting the family, and professionals will develop a customized treatment plan which will assist in meeting the needs of the child and family.
