Offers a culturally grounded, trauma-informed continuum of care for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse within the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe community and surrounding areas. Core services are survivor-centered and designed to promote safety, empowerment, and long-term stability by including emergency shelter, crisis intervention, and individualized advocacy. Advocates provide confidential support, assist with danger assessments, safety planning, and navigation of tribal and state legal systems, including protection orders, custody filings, and court accompaniment. Medical advocacy is available for hospital, clinic, and SANE exam visits. Staff also support access to victim compensation, transportation, healthcare, employment, childcare, and housing resources. Counseling and support groups help survivors process trauma and rebuild safety. All services are culturally responsive, emphasizing respect, community, and healing. Smudging is offered in the shelter, and clients are connected to tribal elders and cultural mentors for additional traditional healing. A 24-hour crisis line provides immediate, confidential support, while community education promotes healthy relationships, consent awareness, and bystander intervention. The shelter program also hosts Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault community education/awareness/prevention events to the public or organizations within the community.
